Joanna Mąkowska

Assistant Professor of American Literature at the University of Warsaw, a translator, and literary critic. Her work has appeared in Modernism/modernity, Arizona Quarterly, Women’s Studies, and James Baldwin Review, among others. She is currently working on a book that examines documentary poetics in relation to assemblage theory and protest literature. She translated into Polish Natalie Diaz’s Postcolonial Love Poem, for which she was nominated for the Ossolineum Award, and Claudia Rankine’s Citizen: An American Lyric. She was a Fulbright Scholar at the State University of New York at Buffalo and a Postdoctoral Fellow at Duquesne University. She also received grants and scholarships from the National Science Center and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
